Target Stores Host Back to School Shopping Sprees On Tuesday, August 10th, 10 local students in need will have the opportunity to shop the Edgewood Road SW Target location with a donated $80 gift card in hand. Volunteers will help the children pick out backpacks, calculators, pens and pencils, art supplies, notebooks, clothing and other must-have items just in time for back-to-school. more... ITC Midwest Donates $75,000, Salvation Army Receives New Canteen After almost a year of anticipation, the new Salvation Army canteen unit is finally here. It is replacing a nearly 20-year old canteen vehicle in service in Cedar Rapids since 1995. A donation by local company ITC Midwest through the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation made the new customized mobile feeding unit possible. more... First Five! 2010 - Health & Resource Fair Register now through Friday, April 30th for this year's event. The fair is scheduled for Wednesday, June 2nd from 1 - 6 pm at Hawkeye Downs. This opportunity is open to pregnant women and children up to age 5. Youth serving agencies will be on hand with information on valuable community resources. These events include an evening of activities for children and families, a community Easter dinner, a Good Friday "cross walk" and Easter Sunday worship. Organizers are counting on community donations to help over 1,500 families in need this year.
